Legal framework

Short-term quota employment (Section 15d BeschV)

Companies can employ workers from non-EU countries for a limited period – regardless of their professional qualifications and in many sectors. The peak in demand does not have to be seasonal.

The Federal Employment Agency sets an annual quota for this. The employer submits the application – we assist with preparing the documents and appointments.

We assist with administrative processes and the preparation of required documents. We do not provide legal advice; binding decisions are made by the Federal Employment Agency and the German embassy.

  • Up to 8 monthswithin 12 months
  • 25,000 placesannual quota of the Federal Employment Agency
  • Up to 10 workersper company within 12 months
  • Min. 30 hrs/weekemployment subject to social insurance

What your company needs

  • Collective agreement: a collective wage agreement covering pay for the job applies to your company – pay follows the agreement
  • At least 30 hours per week, subject to social insurance
  • Covering travel costs there and back
  • Direct employment in your company – no temporary agency work
  • Accommodation for the season – if you do not provide it, we help with the search

No collective agreement? Then we look at other routes together, for example the Western Balkans Regulation (with a longer lead time) or candidates already living in Germany.

Plan early

The quota is limited and visa appointments take time. Ideally, contact us 3 to 4 months before the season starts.

Frequently asked questions about seasonal work

How long can seasonal workers work for us?

Up to 8 months within 12 months. For assignments of up to 90 days within 180 days, nationals of visa-exempt countries only need a work permit from the Federal Employment Agency. Longer assignments or visa-required countries need prior approval and a visa.

Do the workers need vocational training?

No. Short-term quota employment is possible regardless of professional qualifications. We clarify industry experience in the pre-selection interview.

Our company has no collective agreement – is it still possible?

A collective agreement is a requirement for this route. Talk to us: we will check together whether another route fits, for example the Western Balkans Regulation or candidates already living in Germany.

How many seasonal workers can we employ?

Through this route, up to 10 people per company within 12 months. The Federal Employment Agency’s annual total quota is limited – early requests have better chances.

Who pays the travel costs?

The employer covers the necessary travel costs there and back. This is required by law.

Can the workers be deployed through a temporary staffing agency?

No. Temporary agency work is excluded for this route. The workers are employed directly by you – as with all our placements.

When should we get in touch?

As early as possible – ideally 3 to 4 months before the season starts. That leaves enough time for selection, application and visa.
